What it showsఈ స్కాన్ దేని కోసం
An ECG records the electrical signal that makes your heart beat. Ten stickers are placed on your chest, arms and legs, you lie still for a few seconds, and the tracing prints out.
It is ordered for chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, blackouts, before surgery, and as part of most health checkups.
Nothing is injected, nothing passes into you, and it does not hurt. If you have chest pain right now, do not wait for an appointment — walk in, or go to the nearest emergency department.

- If you have chest pain right now, do not wait
- Go to the nearest hospital casualty and have the ECG done there, more so if there is sweating or the pain is spreading to the arm or jaw. An ECG booked at a diagnostic centre is for a doctor's request or for symptoms that have settled, not for pain happening at this moment.
- Ten electrodes, and where they go matters
- Four sit on the limbs and six across the chest, and V1 and V2 belong in the fourth rib space, either side of the breastbone. Placed one space too high, a normal tracing can show changes that look like an old heart attack. The person doing yours places them daily.
- The trace is read here, not sent out
- Some places record the tracing and send it out for a doctor to read, so the report reaches you the next day. Here the recording takes about five minutes, and it is read and signed in this building during the same visit, printed for you or sent to your WhatsApp.
- An ECG will not show you the pump
- It reads rhythm and electrical conduction. It does not show how well the heart is squeezing or whether a valve is leaking, and a normal ECG does not rule those out. If your doctor wants that next, a 2D Echo is done in the same building for ₹1600.
- ₹250, and nothing is added on top
- That is the whole cost of the recording and the signed report on your WhatsApp. There is no separate reporting fee and no charge for sending it. All 286 rates we charge are on the public price list.
