X-Ray Skull AP & LATఎక్స్‌రే

These films show the bony vault of the head, the base of the skull, the sinuses and the outline of the jaw joints. The front picture is taken through the face and the side picture across the head, so a fracture line, a shift in a bone or a change in the sinus shadows can be traced. Soft structures inside the head are not seen on X-ray; a CT scan is used for that.

Doctors order it for injury to the head, a suspected skull fracture, sinus complaints, and assessment of a swelling or deformity of the bones of the head.
