What this test checksఈ పరీక్ష దేని కోసం
The sample is placed on a nutrient medium in the laboratory and kept warm for a day or two, so that any bacteria multiply enough to be identified. Once the organism is known, small discs carrying different antibiotics are tested against it to see which ones stop its growth. That second part is the sensitivity.
Doctors order it for pneumonia, long-standing bronchitis, and chest infections that have not settled with the first course of antibiotics.
