What this test checksఈ పరీక్ష దేని కోసం
Three separate infections are checked on the same sample: antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2, the surface antigen that shows hepatitis B virus in the blood, and the VDRL antibody test for syphilis. All are screening tests. Anything reactive is taken forward for a confirmatory test before any conclusion is drawn.
Doctors order it for pre-operative clearance, antenatal care, and before certain procedures where blood contact is likely.
