This is the wider version of the viral screen, adding the VDRL test for syphilis to the three blood-borne virus tests. A single sample covers all four. Each one is a screening test, and a reactive finding is checked by a confirmatory method before anything is settled.
Doctors order it for hospital admission and pre-operative screening, antenatal care, and before dialysis or transfusion.
