One sample gives a picture of every kind of cell in blood: the red cells that carry oxygen, the white cells that deal with infection and the platelets involved in clotting. The counts show whether any of them are too few or too many. The morphology remarks describe how the cells look under the microscope, which often points towards a cause.
Doctors order it for fever, tiredness, infection, bleeding, and as a general check before starting treatment or surgery.
